More technology!
Does this software make us even more reliant on technology though? I for one in my business cannot begin to imagine how I’d operate without computers, servers, telephones, mobiles, fax machine, internet and other such wonders. How did they employed to manage? Letters? Crikey.
Fool-proof?
As with anything, surely these things are not foolproof. I’ve stayed in a lot of motels over the years, and I’m pretty confident that most have employed reservation software program, but there are I’d say over 50% of the time a discrepancy in what I reserved, and what the booking software tells them I reserved, whether it be the wrong price, room size, bed size or even arrival date, so as good as these things are I have to assume the user still needs some level of competence.
The good old diary?
Okay, so trying to work out the pros and cons of booking software program versus the good old diary. Again, I feel it comes down to competence. You can’t truly double book with any good system but you can omit entires and info on both, although I guess booking software program might be automated to require certain info before allowing the user to close the file, where as a clerk using a diary may rely on their memory when the pen runs out of ink!!
